To whom it may concern (Public Transportation Administrators):

Our community has been deeply disturbed by the reports of the renaming of a most precious piece of African-Mexican history, namely the Ethiopia Train Station. This train station is an enduring symbol of Unity, which was inspired by the visit of our Divine King His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I. This edifice chronicles the history of inter-relations between the Western and Eastern hemisphere through, especially the Spanish speaking region which is currently a beacon of cultural and spiritual growth in the global arena. This issue is not simply a matter of a name change, but it speaks to the larger issue of cultural continuity, which is the promotion and maintenance of the distinctive identity of a group of people and its culture. We propose that this train station's name and the legacy within it are too important to be regarded as a triviality, and discarded.

Furthermore, the recommendations of our brothers and sisters residing in Mexico, concerning the establishment of a cultural exhibit centered on this theme is of paramount importance, as it can bridge the gaps between a multi-racial, culturally diverse group such as the Rastafari community. This will also be of great significance to all those who espouse the virtues of Unity and Solidarity, two of the many profound themes and messages His Imperial Majesty infuses His utterances with. The maintenance of the identity of this Train Station will be a monumental step towards preserving a unifying location, of which millions around the world will begin to appreciate and respect. These steps will ultimately lead us to the much needed global solidarity, as well as assisting in the development of culture. The exhibit proposed will also be of great significance in the education of the children of the coming generations, whether they be of Mexico, Afrika, or of Rastafari orientation.

We stand firmly behind our brothers and sisters of Mexico, in their struggle to maintain the cultural heritage that is present and available in Mexico. This undertaking to rename the station will be of more detriment in the long term, because once a truth is concealed, it loses the power to inspire and to encourage. The idea of establishing a cultural exhibit will strengthen the tourism of your country, as well as provide a central location for our brothers and sisters and their educational endeavors.

Giving thanks for your consideration. We stand firmly and resolutely with our brothers and Sisters of the Rastafari Cultural Organization, and on Behalf of the Rastafari Community of the Bahamas, we demand justice.
